Additional Information

A native of Charlotte, North Carolina, Mario attended the University of Georgia on a full athletic scholarship in 2002 as a wide receiver.   As a part of the 2002 and 2005 Southeastern Conference (SEC) championship teams, he earned several honors both academically and athletically.  Mario excelled both on and off the field as a leader for his teammates and peers.  He graduated in 2006 with a degree in Housing/Consumer Economics with a minor in sociology. He is certified in International Sports Science (ISSA), CPR certified and is a GHSA certified lay coach.

While in transition from college to NFL, the opportunity to work with young athletes presented itself.  In 2008, he began working with the North Gwinnett High School Varsity soccer programs as their speed and agility coach.  After two seasons, the girls won the Georgia High School Athletic Association 5A state championship in 2010.  In 2011, they returned to the championship game and ended the season as the state runner up. And, of course, he was instrumental in preparing the girls for their 2019 7A State Championship. He considers himself very fortunate to still be a part of this program and family for the 15th consecutive season.
